Damco, one of the world’s leading providers of freight forwarding and supply chain management solutions, has recently made several key appointments of senior executives to lead the company’s ongoing efforts to drive strategic growth in the North Asia region.
The following appointments went into effect from January 2, 2012:
Ms. Henriette Hallberg Thygesen
Chief Executive Officer
North Asia Region
Ms. Henriette Hallberg Thygesen has been with the A.P.Moller-Maersk Group for 16 years primarily working within the field of logistics and comes most recently from a role as global Chief Process Officer for Damco. Henriette has also earlier in her career been working in China both as Shanghai Branch Manager of then Maersk Logistics (Now Damco) and later as Operations manager for the Greater China Area.
Henriette holds a Ph.D. in applied mathematics and an Executive-MBA from London Business School/Columbia University. Henriette will be based in Hong Kong in order to be closer to the majority of Damco’s clients and commercial interests and support the ambitious growth plans for Damco North Asia.
“North Asia is a key territory for Damco and I am very pleased that Henriette has agreed to take the position as CEO. It is a challenging task as our overall growth ambition is high, but I have no doubt that Henriette is the right person for the task”, said Rolf Habben-Jansen, CEO of Damco.
Commenting on her new role, Ms. Henriette Hallberg Thygesen said, “For me, this new year was even more exciting than usual, as I have been looking forward to take on this new role. North Asia has been through a fantastic development during the last decade with tremendous successes but there is still much more we can contribute and accomplish. We have a strong organization in place and I am immensely honoured to have the opportunity to lead Damco North Asia into a new era of growth.”
Henriette replaces Mr. Steffen Schiottz-Christensen who will remain in the North Asia region as Vice President & Head of Airfreight for the recently acquired New Times International Transport Service Co. Ltd. (NTS).
Richard Morgan
Chief Commercial Officer
North Asia Region
Reporting directly to new CEO Ms. Henriette Hallberg Thygesen, Mr. Richard Morgan will be responsible for the overall commercial and business development activities in the region.
Richard comes from the position as Chief Commercial Officer in UK and Ireland and other senior supply chain management posts with a very strong and professional background since joining A.P. Moller-Maersk Group in 2003. Richard has been responsible for winning and growing many of the Global and Regional Key Accounts in the UK, along with the development of successful Strategic and Field Sales units, leading to a significant increase in Sales output in Great Britain.

Announcing his appointment, Ms. Henriette Hallberg Thygesen, CEO of Damco North Asia said, ”We are delighted to have Richard on board as the new Commercial Officer of North Asia. He brings with him a wealth of experience which will prove invaluable as we continue to build and strengthen our customer partnerships and position Damco for future growth in the region.”
Richard will be based in Hong Kong and become member of the Damco leadership team in North Asia.
