HEB awards DAMCO “Strategic Partner of the Year” in Supply Chain Division

In November, during an award ceremony hosted by HEB Mexico at Parque Fundidora in Monterrey, Damco Mexico won the most prestigious award of “Strategic Partner of the Year” in the Supply Chain division of HEB. Damco won in recognition of an outstanding contribution to HEB. The Criteria to select the winner was based on cost savings, good service, expediting of the OC’s, own consolidations and fast response in emergencies.

Gerardo Uribe, Vice-president of Supply Chain in HEB Mexico, commented that the award was given to DAMCO “for their outstanding service levels”.
“They have been instrumental during 2012 by providing innovative solutions and constant care”, Gerardo said.

“The “Strategic Partner of the Year” award is more than pleasing to our team” commented Javier Garcia, Managing Director of Damco Mexico.
“This award is proof of how customers see and appreciate the value of our ability to understand their business needs, and regularly propose creative solutions, which can help them improve and make their supply chains more efficient”, he said.

Damco wins for sustainability in logistics

Damco was honored at the 8th annual SCM Logistics Excellence Awards 2012 in October. Damco won the category “Supply Chain Sustainability Award” for excellence in showcasing customer sustainability results.

Upon accepting the award in Singapore, Damco’s Global Head of Green Logistics Sarah Flagg said: “This is a clear testament to the advances we have made within the field of green logistics and to the strength of our customer partnerships in creating sustainable supply chains."
“We are very proud of award and we will continue to keep green logistics and sustainability as a core component of our supply chain management services,” Flagg added.

Damco Named as a Top Provider for Sears Holdings

Damco announced in August 2012 that they were named a 2012 Partner in Transformation for Sears Holdings Corporation.  Damco received the award in recognition of their innovative contributions to Sears.

Sears Holdings granted the prestigious Partners in Transformation award to a select group of supplier companies who have been helping support the transformation of Sears Holdings through innovation around customers, core retail excellence and financial and operational discipline. Of the over 30,000 suppliers that work with Sears Holdings, less than one half of a percent have the privilege of receiving this award.

Damco Dynamic Flow Control™ has put Shop Direct and Damco in a finalist position for “Supply Chain Project of the Year”

For the work they have jointly undertaken with Shop Direct on implementing Damco Dynamic Flow Control™ to enhance product visibility across the supply chain, Damco and Shop Direct was shortlisted as a finalist for the annual “RetailWeek Supply Chain Awards” onducted in London in September 2012.
 
“We are very proud to have been shortlisted for the Supply Chain Project of the Year. This is a testament to our commitment to work very closely with Shop Direct in developing initiatives to meet their business needs,” Chief Commercial Officer of Damco UK and Ireland Simon Joslin said.


Damco runner up for world Airfreight Forwarder of the Year

For the first time Damco came very close to obtaining the prestigious award of “Airfreight Forwarder of the Year” during World Air Cargo Award 2012. This position is a clear testament to Damco’s recent advancements in air freight.

The World Air Cargo Awards 2012 is an annual event celebrating excellence and achievement in the global air cargo industry. This year it happened on 6 June at the renowned Kerry Hotel in Shanghai. With 10 different categories, each award is based on the results of voting by readers of the leading world air cargo publication “Air Cargo Week”, making them subject to the perusal of air cargo professionals throughout the industry.

Damco came close to winning Airfreight Forwarder of the Year, as one in three runner ups to the award. “We are extremely proud of this accolade from the industry, even though we only came close to winning”, said Remo Eigenmann, Global Head of Airfreight at Damco. “It’s a tough race to be acknowledged for presence in the top four and this is the first time we have achieved this. It is a clear statement of our recent air freight focus”, he said

International Produce Limited (IPL) has awarded Damco “Service Provider of the Year” for services in global logistics and for helping IPL reduce its carbon footprint.

International Produce (IPL), part of the Walmart group, is the biggest single importer of fresh produce in the UK. At the 3rd annual IPL logistics conference held in the UK on May 9th, Damco won two prestigious awards for excellence in logistics and sustainability. Damco is a leading global logistics provider and part of the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group. 

IPL Operations Director Jason Kelly said Damco had won the title of Service Provider of the Year "for their flexibility, support and exceptional service whilst also supporting IPL to exploit alternative modes of transport and reduce its carbon footprint”.

His comments on sustainability showcase the strength of Damco as an organisation specialised in supplying modern logistics services that enhance supply chains while lowering the overall carbon footprint. Winning this award also confirms a key component of Damco’s business strategy of being close to the customer and delivering a tailor-made global solution based on service and innovation.

IPL also awarded Damco’s UK operation “Clearing and Forwarding Agent of the Year”.
IPL Operations Director Jason Kelly said that this award was given to Damco UK "for their constant focus on IPL’s account and for providing outstanding support to our individual business units. They have been instrumental in supporting our European logistics team in setting up an ex works supply chain from Morocco"

Damco wins SCM Logistics Excellence Award in the category “Supply Chain Best Partnership Award” for outstanding contributions in supply chain partnerships.
Damco was evaluated on their track record in assisting clients to reduce supply chain and logistics cost and develop an integrated supply chain. Criteria such as service level performance in terms of credibility, reliability and provision of end-to-end supply chain solutions/services were also taken into consideration.

Damco UK receives ‘Clearing and Forwarding Agent of the year’ Award 2011 at the International Produce Limited (IPL) Logistics conference.
IPL is a company wholly owned by ASDA Wal*Mart, set up in 2004 to source the majority of ASDA Wal*Mart’s fresh produce. IPL has also now been tasked by ASDA to source a number of non fresh produce products that originate from outside of the UK. Damco has been involved in many of these projects, on both air freight and sea freight.  

Damco has worked with IPL almost from the day it was established and the relationship between the two companies has grown into a solid partnership in many areas of the globe.  This partnership has helped IPL in their desire to get closer to suppliers and to purchase from them directly wherever they are in the world.

Damco selected as winner in two categories of British International Freight Association Service Awards 2010
The BIFA Freight Service Award is recognised as one of the most prestigious events in the freight industry. The competition encourages and rewards high standards and professionalism, representing the ultimate recognition of special achievements in different sectors of the industry. The 2010 Awards have seen Damco taking home not one, but two trophies by winning the Supply Chain Management Award and Staff Development Award.

Damco entered the Supply Chain Management Award with the 'Stock-to-Serve Optimisation' solution, which is aimed at helping Damco customers to find the right level of inventory in their supply chains and to attain greater alignment between purchasing and sales. BIFA's judging panel comments: “Damco was the deserved winner of the Supply Chain Management Award with their 'Stock-to-Serve Optimisation' model, as they demonstrated clear and tangible benefits for their customers with the introduction of a service of innovative systems aimed to help improve the quality of information within the supply chain.

The BIFA judging panel was also impressed by Damco’s entry in the Staff Development Award: “Damco has demonstrated a very positive approach to staff development by making training available to all members of staff. The tailored individual learning plans they deliver, contribute to the service levels employees can offer by receiving the training they require to carry out their jobs effectively.”

Damco Proud Recipient of The Home Depot’s (THD) International Logistics Service Provider of the Year Award
At the annual Home Depot’s Carrier Council Dinner / Awards Ceremony held at THD’s Atlanta headquarters on September 22, 2010, Damco was awarded their prestigious ‘International Logistics Service Provider of the Year’ award. Damco was selected from among various THD 3PL origin cargo management, broker and container management providers. Damco was also named ‘Partner of the Year’ for demonstrating excellence in performance criteria including the accuracy and the timeliness of critical operations data, quality of account management, and developing and executing value-added innovations and process improvements.

International Produce Ltd. (IPL) is a wholly owned entity of ASDA Wal*Mart - one of the UK’s leading supermarkets, sourcing from quality growers worldwide to provide the best value fresh produce.

Runner-up Award of Barloworld's CAST - User of the Year Award 2010
In recognition for contributions to supply chain modelling, Barloworld Supply Chain Software Company holds CAST User of The Year Award every year with focus on benefits, technicality, complexity and relevance.
Using Computer Aided Strategic Technology (CAST) Damco helped Guinness to save in distribution network costs.
Quote from a public release announcing the award: “Fiona Su’s entry from Damco Shanghai, China was selected for its cross continent application using the CAST MIP Optimiser, Centre of Gravity and Network strategy models resulting in significant recognised value, distribution network savings and improved service levels within a complex, high supply chain cost distribution network.”

Runner-up Prize 2009 Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA) Supplier of the Year Awards
Damco received the Runner-up Prize in the Process Improvement Award category at the 2009 Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA) Supplier of the Year Awards in Sydney, Australia. The award was in large due to Damco's excellent customer service and relentless efforts to identify cost reduction solutions for Coca Cola Amatil from January 2009 to December 2009. There were only 300 major suppliers selected to participate in the competition, and only 5% were awarded in relation to:
Transformational development and big ideas; Increased revenue for CCA; Reduction in costs to CCA; and Improvement in customer services.  

2009 NIKE Gold Medal Award for Global Logistics Services in Consolidation
In order to receive this award, Damco, has met or exceeded a number of critical performance standards for Consolidation, contributing to successful delivery of NIKE product to consumers around the world.
