Damco’s supply chain modelling services help you map out your most effective supply chain solutions, and experiment with alternatives before committing to investment. We use processes such as graphical analysis, network and inventory optimisation routines to build a model of your current or future supply chain: we can then use a number of modelling tools and your own data to simulate locations, supply routes and other network details, and test these against the practical demands of your business in what will often be an iterative process.
Our approach is not confined to high level supply chain architecture. We can apply similar methods at the level of individual facilities or products, taking into account current and historic demand patterns or forecasts, and tailor your storage and distribution strategies to maximise return on assets, identify critical/non-critical items and apply appropriate service levels, identify outliers and costly inventory or distribution policies that are offering little return, and spot opportunities to reduce inventory by allowing fast-moving low variance goods to bypass central stores or DCs. The effects of any of these decisions can then be modelled again for maximum optimisation.
