Saskia Groen-in't-Woud, Damco’s regional Chief Operating Officer, Asia, has won the 2017 Telstra Business Woman in Asia Award. The award was announced at the 2017 Telstra Business Women’s Awards dinner held on 21 November 2017 in Melbourne.
Saskia won the award for her continuous drive and leadership within the Asia region’s supply chain and logistics industry. In addition to her discipline and attention to driving bottom line performance, Saskia’s was given the award for her focus on addressing customer requirements as well as the procurement, management and implementation of supply chain services.
“Finding the balance between addressing business challenges and opportunities for our customers and building the high performing teams to deliver the right solutions is undoubtedly a major undertaking. And it is one that I am extremely proud to be a part of.” She continued, “Doing this efficiently and in a way, that will help businesses stay ahead is an absolute necessity in the supply chain industry. Receiving this award shows that what I am doing, what we are doing at Damco has impact. So, it is a great honour to be recognized in this way”.
The Telstra Business Women’s Awards give outstanding business women in Asia the opportunity to reflect on their achievements, set bold new goals for the future and build relationships with an extensive Alumni community spanning Asia and Australia. Now in its second year, the 2017 Telstra Business Woman in Asia Award has expanded its criteria to include female entrepreneurs and women from not-for-profit and social enterprises.
Saskia adds, “‘It’s great that we can recognize in company’s like ours that are not traditionally attractive to women, that there is a very equal playing field that responds to talent to provide equal opportunity.”
